Tank Sponge with Spare Insert
Condensation naturally occurs in all fuel storage tanks (particularly metal ones) due to changing atmospheric temperatures; this causes water contamination which settles at the bottom of the tank.
When water is present in fuel (Kerosene or Gas Oil) numerous problems can occur:
- Water itself can enter the system instead of the fuel and cause damage
- The presence of water can promote the development of tank sludge
- The presence of water can rapidly increase rusting
- Water can freeze in the tank which can then cause the fuel to degrade
Condensation occurs in most Heating Oil and Red Diesel tanks which can not only contaminate the fuel, but causes rust to develop, unseen, in the bottom of steel tanks.
The Tank Sponge is weighted so that it lays flat on the bottom of your tank. Containing super absorbent polymers which soaks up any water but is impervious to fuel.
When the tank sponge is full it can be removed.
Removing the water in your tank will help maintain the quality of your fuel and enable your system to run cleaner and more efficiently, giving you the peace of mind that your fuel will work to its maximum capability.
